A Studio That Needed
to Look Like One.
Vanta Studio is a boutique creative agency with genuinely exceptional work — but their site was a generic WordPress theme from 2019. Clients were arriving at calls already half-disappointed. The work was great; the digital front door wasn't.
The brief was clear: the site had to feel like the work. Every pixel had to carry the same craft and intentionality as the brand identities they were selling. And it had to be fast — a slow portfolio site is a contradiction in terms.
Craft at Every
Scroll Position.
I designed directly in the browser, running weekly Loom recordings for async feedback. The animation system was built in layers — CSS-first for simple transitions, GSAP only where physics mattered, no JavaScript where vanilla CSS could do the job.
- Week 1 — Art directionType scale, motion language, grid system. Established in Figma, stress-tested in the browser within 72 hours.
- Week 2 — Core templatesHome, case study listing, single case study. CMS schema defined and populated with five existing projects.
- Week 3 — Scroll animationsParallax hero, horizontal case study scroll, staggered entry animations. GSAP ScrollTrigger with IntersectionObserver fallbacks.
- Week 4 — Performance passImage optimisation (AVIF + WebP), font subsetting, critical CSS inlining. Lighthouse 99/100 across the board.
First Impressions,
Fixed.
Within a month of launch, the studio reported that every new-business call started with the client mentioning the website. Inbound lead quality improved measurably. The team could update case studies themselves in under ten minutes.
