How an Engagement Works

No
Surprises.

Seven steps from first conversation to final handoff. Every engagement follows this playbook — with clear deliverables and defined edges at each stage.

01
Brief~15 minutes

You Fill In the Brief

The project brief form covers project type, rough budget, ideal timeline, and what success actually looks like. I read every submission carefully — no filtering, no auto-replies.

Deliverables

  • Project Brief form submission

You get

  • A clear yes / no / not yet within 48 hours
02
Discovery1–2 calls, 1 week

We Align on the Problem

If the project looks like a fit, we book a 45-minute discovery call. I ask uncomfortable questions about scope, constraints, and what's been tried before. The goal is a shared understanding of what we're actually solving — not just what's being built.

Deliverables

  • Discovery call
  • Scope document draft

You get

  • Honest assessment of risk
  • Clear picture of what I need to proceed
03
Scoping3–5 days

We Define the Edges

I write a scoping document: exact deliverables, what's out of scope, milestones, and a quoted price. Nothing proceeds until we've both signed off on this document. No surprises mid-project.

Deliverables

  • Scoping document
  • Proposal & quote
  • SOW / contract

You get

  • No-ambiguity agreement
  • Payment schedule
  • Kickoff date
04
Build2–10 weeks

I Build, You Stay Informed

Development runs in weekly sprints. You get a staging URL from day one and a written update every Friday — what shipped, what's next, any blockers. No radio silence. No waterfall reveals.

Deliverables

  • Live staging environment
  • Weekly written updates
  • Async Slack channel

You get

  • Visibility into everything
  • One revision round per sprint
  • No surprises at launch
05
QA3–5 days

We Break It Before Your Users Do

Pre-launch QA covers: cross-browser testing, performance audit (Lighthouse 95+ target), accessibility review, and a full edge-case walk-through. I document every issue found and fixed.

Deliverables

  • QA report
  • Lighthouse audit
  • Accessibility review

You get

  • Confidence before launch
  • Zero "we found a bug" calls at midnight
06
Launch1–2 days

Go Live, Properly

Deployment to production with DNS setup, SSL, monitoring, and error alerting in place before the switch flips. I'm online for the launch window and for 30 days post-launch for any critical issues.

Deliverables

  • Production deployment
  • DNS + SSL setup
  • Monitoring setup

You get

  • Smooth launch
  • 30-day post-launch support
07
Handoff2–3 days

You Own It, Completely

Full documentation: architecture overview, data flow diagrams, environment setup guide, and a Loom-recorded walkthrough of every part your team will touch. The goal is that you never need me to understand your own product.

Deliverables

  • Architecture docs
  • Runbook
  • Loom walkthroughs
  • All credentials + access

You get

  • Total ownership
  • Self-sufficient team
  • Optional retainer for ongoing work
